Art in Liechtenstein has a short history with a long tradition. The princes from Liechtenstein have been gathering works of art already since the early 17th century. In the principality itself, however, the treasures from this private collection have only been on view for a few decades. In partial aspects, they are displayed in the rooms of the national art museum. This museum was founded in 1968 under the name "Liechtensteinische Staatliche Kunstsammlung"
(Liechtenstein National Art Collection) and is located in the rooms of a former gaming casino in the center of Vaduz.
