Roth, a German-born Swiss, was a painter, sculptor and collector

• As an artist, Roth worked with materials as diverse as cheese, chocolate, rabbit droppings and discarded objects of all types
• Trained graphic designer / lithographer
• After his training, Roth worked as a designer / commercial designer in Basel, Bern, Copenhagen and New York City
• 1961: First "Literaturwurst"
